Short answer. A travel eSIM deleted by mistake can often be reinstalled, but it is not guaranteed. Do not rescan the QR code on a hunch: write to us first with your order number. We check the eSIM's status with our supplier and tell you whether the same QR code can be used. If you only turned it off, nothing is lost: switch the line back on.
Turned off or deleted?
The two look alike. Turning off ("Turn On This Line" switched off on iPhone, "Use SIM" switched off on Pixel) leaves the eSIM in the phone: just switch it back on. Deleting ("Delete eSIM" on iPhone, "Erase eSIM" on Pixel) removes the profile. Look at the list of lines: if the eSIM is still there, it is only turned off.
Our supplier points out that turning an eSIM off does not extend the plan: the days keep running.
What happens when you delete an eSIM
According to our supplier, an eSIM removed from a phone goes to a "released" state and can in principle be installed again. But it also lists reinstalling an already-installed eSIM among the causes of installation errors, and the message "This code is no longer valid" can then appear. Our terms say so: deleting the profile may prevent any reinstallation. Hence the rule: write before you rescan.
What to do, in order
- Check the list of lines: is the eSIM really deleted?
- Write to us at contact@esimtunisie.com, 7 days a week, 9 am to 8 pm GMT, with the order number and the phone model.
- Find the QR code: in the order email, or get it sent again here.
- If we confirm reinstallation is possible, install it on Wi-Fi as the first time, then turn data roaming back on for the eSIM line.
If you need internet right now, a second eSIM can sit next to the first: the backup plan is in eSIM not working in Tunisia.
Changing phones during the trip
Our supplier offers no quick transfer of an eSIM from one phone to another. The only route has two steps: delete the eSIM from the old phone, then install it on the new one. An eSIM is tied to one device at a time. Our FAQ answers "generally no": write to us before deleting anything, with the old phone in your hand.
Apple's quick transfer between iPhones is for lines from networks that offer it. It does not apply to our travel eSIM.
Lost or stolen phone
Our supplier explains that the eSIM stays tied to the lost device and cannot be reused. A new eSIM is needed. First steps are in lost or stolen phone in Tunisia.
Avoiding a deletion by mistake
- Name the line "Tunisia" when you install it, so you cannot confuse it with your usual line.
- On Pixel, Google lets you require a password to delete an eSIM: Settings, Security, Advanced settings, "Confirm SIM deletion".
- During the trip, turn off rather than delete. Once home and the plan has ended, see removing a travel eSIM after your trip.
Our eSIM runs on the Orange Tunisie network: 1 GB a day at full 4G speed, then 512 kbps until the next day, hotspot included, QR code by email, plan starting at your first connection in Tunisia. See the plans.
