Short answer: once your plan has ended, you can delete the travel eSIM: it does nothing any more. While the plan is still running, switch the line off instead of deleting it. Deleting does not refund unused days, and reinstalling a deleted eSIM is not something to count on. On iPhone it is in Settings under Mobile Data; on Android, in the SIM manager.
Switch off or delete: the difference
- Switching the line off keeps the eSIM in the phone. You can turn it back on in two taps. This is what you want between two parts of the same trip, or on the flight home if days remain.
- Deleting removes the eSIM profile from the phone. It tidies the settings and frees a slot for the next travel eSIM.
When it is safe to delete
- The plan's days are over. With us, a plan cannot be extended or topped up: each order creates a new eSIM with its own QR code, so an expired one has no further use.
- You are home and your usual line is working for data again.
When not to: during the trip, to “start again” because something is not working. Our supplier's documentation says an eSIM removed from the phone can normally be installed again over Wi-Fi, but it also lists reinstalling as a possible cause of an installation error, and our terms warn that deleting may prevent reinstallation. Try the settings first: eSIM not working in Tunisia.
Delete it on iPhone
- Settings, Mobile Data (or Cellular).
- Tap the travel eSIM line. Check the label so that you do not pick your own line.
- Tap “Delete eSIM” and confirm.
Delete it on Samsung or Pixel
- Samsung: Settings, Connections, SIM manager, tap the eSIM, then “Remove”.
- Pixel: Settings, Network and internet, SIMs, tap the eSIM, then “Delete SIM”.
Menu names vary a little with the model and the software version.
Back home: three settings to put back
- Set mobile data to your usual line again.
- Turn data roaming back to how you normally keep it on that line.
- On iPhone, check the default line for calls and messages.
Selling or resetting the phone
A full reset asks whether to keep or erase eSIMs. For a phone you are selling, erase everything, after moving your own eSIM line with your operator's help. For a simple reset of a phone you are keeping, choose to keep your own eSIM, or you will have to ask your operator for a new one.
What deleting does not do
- It does not refund unused days: once a plan has started, it cannot be refunded.
- It does not cancel anything: a prepaid plan has no subscription and nothing renews.
- It does not move the eSIM to another phone.
Going back to Tunisia?
A new trip needs a new plan and a new QR code. Our plans run from €6.50 for 1 day to €84.90 for 30 days. See the plans, and how to install the eSIM before you fly.
